What’re we writing this year?

Y’all, I have no clue what to write today, and I’m nervous about starting the challenge on Friday. I will {finally} end my medical leave next week and leave baby with my mom during the day. The transition is going to be bizarre since we’ve experienced an abundance of change since late November: welcomed a new baby, moved for the first time with kids, celebrated my mom’s retirement, mourned the loss of my grandfather. I’m worried about bone deep exhaustion and time.

I was going to brainstorm this week in case I find myself in a pinch throughout March’s writing challenge. Why not do it here? Yep, I’m double dipping!

  • Six word memoirs
  • 100 word stories
  • Reflect on a quote
  • Picture essay
  • End of week 5-4-3-2-1
  • National Day of…
  • Five Things
  • Restaurant review
  • Travel updates (#springbreak)

Are y’all excited?? Do you pick a theme for the month? Do you consistently post at certain times of the day? Share your tips with me, please!!

Britt, here we are-another March challenge. I think I met you during one of the Slice of Life challenges. Congratulations on your new baby and move. As I watch my daughter trying to balance a job, a household, and 3 litter girls under the age of 6 1/2 years old, I can applaud you for returning back to work. I look forwad ito reading your slices this coming month.

You have so much. From my experience (13 times) the more challenging the year has been, the more needed the writing has been, somehow writing, often focusing on the little things, has helped to sort, cope and even thrive at times that seemed impossible and joining a challenge could have been considered insane. I hope writing works like this for you too. And as another saying goes – we may write, but don’t have to. This is liberating for me. I had a panic moment yesterday, calmed myself down, and then had another worry flash in the evening. I also wrote a list of possible topics just in case. No theme. Plan to be eclectic.

I wish I had some tips to share with you, but I don’t. I never know what I am going to write about until I sit down to do it. You have started a list of possibilities. That is great. Might I also suggest trying a sijo. They are fun to write and very short…3 lines similar to a haiku.

I wish I had a strategy to share or an inspiring theme, alas I am a pantser, and never know what I will write until I sit down to do it. Your short list and what you’ve lived this last year sound like plenty!! See you there.
