5 things that made me smile
• Elías reading actual words!
• Spontaneous lunch with family members
• Learning about, and starting to use, an under eye corrector concealer
• My 2 year old moving his foot on top of my arm and wiggling his toes to indicate I needed to continue the massage (LOL)
• The AC repairman confirming our extreme, sudden heat spell was a simple flip of a switch, not a broken AC unit (turns out I’d rather be ignorant than have to pay an exorbitant amount of money…)
4 words to describe my week
• Solemn
• Productive
• Anxious
• Togetherness
3 plans for the weekend
• Continue garage cleaning (yuck)
• Crash my baby cousin’s 12th birthday party (hehe)
• Start my month of March graphic novel (“American Born Chinese”)
2 things I learned/relearned this week
• Grief comes in waves
• Time is precious; relationships are a two way street
1 goal for the week ahead
• Gracefully adjust to going back to work from three months on maternity leave 😵💫
Britt,
That last one is gonna be tough, and made tougher by daily writing. Glad that AC isn’t broken. Send some of the best up to Idaho. I’m freezing.

The 5,4,3,2,1 structure is helpful in reflecting, isn’t it? I like that the word section allows four words, it would be impossible to sum a week with one word only. Enjoy the weekend of togetherness before returning to work.

This is such a great slice and such a useful structure! All the best with your goal for the week!

What a delightful way to kick off the Challenge, Britt! I found myself smiling and wanting to hug you, in turn… that line on grief. It is the price of having loved. And time, the moments, infinitely precious, oh yes. How much richer we are in the realizing. How much richer we are here, too, drawing inspiration from one another! Your structure here is so do-able, so encouraging to try on a day of this Challenge! Thank you for sharing it.

I love this format for reflection. Thanks for sharing! I’ll tuck it away for the future when writer’s block strikes. 🙂 You have a mix of feelings that came through in your slice. Happy writing this month!

I will definitely use this format as a means to organize ( as you have done) both the wonderful little moments and the intense deeply sad moments that intertwine into life. I hope your rentry into your professional life is smooth and those words and snuggles continue to inspire you.

Great format for a reflection to kick off this month long writing challenge. Kudos to all that you have done/are doing for work reentry. Life’s a challenge . . . Always.

Our AC was broken over the summer. Not a flick of the switch repair but purchasing a new heating/cooling system. Yikes. Love this format. Tells so much in a succinct way.

I adore that “Crash my baby cousin’s 12th birthday party”!! So wonderful!! There is such insight into you/your life through this 5-4-3-2-1 format – love it. (and, yes, grief comes in waves…it never ever goes away, I have found…I know I’m much older than you…writing helps me tons) Happy March!

I just added this format to my list. Grief is that feeling that is needed yes, but so hard to get through.

Britt, I love the 5,4,3,2,1 posts, and I’m so glad you have shared your ideas to inspire a lot of us this month. I smiled along with the things that made you smile this week, thank you for this sweet entrance into your life. I liked your teaser on the TwoWritingTeachers webpage: “Starting the challenge with an end of week reflection.” Clever. 🙂

Britt, I love this format, and I’m definitely going to use it – and share it with my kids when they’re looking for a topic.
As for “gracefully” easing back into work…I have to confess I have NEVER done anything gracefully! But that transition back is a big one. Just know that I am sending you all the strength, mama.
And I’ll have to add that graphic novel to my list. I’ve been reading all sorts of great ones, and I’m here for any new recommendations!
