SOL: Spontaneous Road Trip

Remember that minivan news? We quickly put it to good use…with a 1200 mile, 23 hour road trip!

I’m not sure how I was talked into making a road trip with a toddler and breastfeeding newborn, but we haven’t seen Kyle’s family in over 18 months (okay, there wasn’t a whole lot of arm twisting). We did it, we survived, we are thankful!

We were a bit spontaneous before kids, but I definitely didn’t think we’d continue our streak with TWO kids. Can I say I’m proud of myself?

Can I also say I’m nervous for the drive back next week?!!

**Shout-out to my amazing mother who took a day off work to accompany us on the road here and then flew back a couple days later. I don’t know that we would’ve made it to Florida without her; she’s calm, helpful, generous.

Wow! YOU are doing a great job. You have me remembering a 15-hour road trip we took with a breastfeeding newborn and a 2 1/2 year-old. Ohhh the adventure! Here’s hoping your visit is a good one, and that your trip back is a smooth one. And if it isn’t, here’s hoping there will at least be good stories to tell in the long run, stories that make it to family legend and lore status. =))

Road trips are such an awesome thing! The logistics of pulling one off with littles make things a bit challenging, but it gets easier the more you do it. We don’t travel a lot anymore, but it’s always fun when we do. I’m glad your first leg went well, and here’s to a successful return trip!
